The Cellular Operators Association of India (which includes most of India’s GSM telecom operators), has reported an addition of 1.78 million GSM connections in August 2013, closing in at 674.4 million connections, a minor 0.26% increase from 672.6 million connections in the previous month. Note that the COAI has not included connections for S Tel and Etisalat DB. GSM operator and circle-wise data (excluding Reliance and Tata): - Aircel added 0.87 million connections in August, taking its connection base to 62.60 million. - Bharti Airtel added 0.83 million connections in August, taking its connection base to 192.22 million. - Idea Cellular added 0.75 million connections in August, taking its connection base to 126.02 million. - Uninor lost 0.50 million connections in August, taking its connection base to 32.25 million. Note that no information has been provided about the active users, which we’ll probably get once the telecom regulator TRAI releases data for the entire industry.
