The Cellular Operators Association of India (which includes most of India’s GSM telecom operators), has reported an addition of 1.78 million GSM connections in August 2013, closing in at 674.4 million connections, a minor 0.26% increase from 672.6 million connections in the previous month.

Note that the COAI has not included connections for S Tel and Etisalat DB.

Telco coai august 2013

– Aircel added 0.87 million connections in August, taking its connection base to 62.60 million.
– Bharti Airtel added 0.83 million connections in August, taking its connection base to 192.22 million.
– Idea Cellular added 0.75 million connections in August, taking its connection base to 126.02 million.
– Uninor lost 0.50 million connections in August, taking its connection base to 32.25 million.

– Among metro circles, Delhi added 347,640 GSM connections, with Kolkata adding 75,501 GSM connections.

Note that no information has been provided about the active users, which we’ll probably get once the telecom regulator TRAI releases data for the entire industry.
