Updated: Manoj Padmanabhan To Head Zee New Media’s Ditto TV

Manoj Padmanabhan

Essel group company Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL) has promoted Manoj Padmanabhan as the Business Head – Ditto TV, reports Indiantelevision.com. In this role, Padmanabhan will heading the operations of Zee New Media’s online TV subscription service Ditto TV.

He will be taking over from Vishal Malhotra who had resigned earlier this month, after a three and a half year stint with the company, as indicated by a BestMediaInfo report.

Prior to this appointment, Padmanabhan was ZEEL’s Senior Vice President – Marketing (Digital) and Sales (New Media) and had joined the company in November 2007 as its Vice President – Marketing (Digital). Besides this, Padmanabhan has had stints at Tata Communications and Sansui India.

In March 2013, Zee New Media’s Ditto TV had partnered with the edutainment channel ZeeQ to offer the latter’s content on its platform. It had also inked a distribution deal with IndiaCast, the content asset monetization joint venture between TV18 and Viacom18, following which Ditto TV got access to IndiaCast’s content from 19 television channels, for its online streaming service and video on demand services on mobile phones, tablets, PCs, entertainment boxes and connected TVs.

Launched in February 2012, Ditto TV offers live TV streams and video on demand content on mobile phones, tablets, PCs, entertainment boxes and connected TVs. The service is currently available in the India, United States, UK, UAE, New Zealand, and Australia among others and can be accessed through desktop apps for Mac and Windows, and mobile apps for iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Windows 8, Windows Phone and Symbian.

Corrigendum: ZEEL’s PR agency has informed that the Indiantelevision article was incorrect and Manoj Padmanabhan’s new role is Business Head – Ditto TV and not Business Head – New Media as mentioned before. We’ve updated the headline and the article to reflect the same.
