July 2013: India Added Over 1.49 Million GSM Connections

The Cellular Operators Association of India (which includes most of India’s GSM telecom operators), has reported an addition of 1.49 million GSM connections in July 2013, closing in at 672.6 million connections, a minor 0.22% increase from 671.1 million connections in the previous month. Note that the COAI has not included connections for S Tel and Etisalat DB. GSM operator and circle-wise data (excluding Reliance and Tata): - Aircel added 0.75 million connections in July, taking its connection base to 61.72 million. - Bharti Airtel added 0.47 million connections in July, taking its connection base to 191.38 million. - Uninor added 0.46 million connections in July, taking its connection base to 32.75 million. - Vodafone however lost 0.61 million connections in July, taking its connection base to 154.42 million. Download: GSM Data from COAI (.xls file) - Among metro circles, Delhi added 401,329 GSM connections, with Chennai adding 82,296 GSM connections. Note that no information has been provided about the active users, which we’ll probably get once the telecom regulator TRAI releases data for the entire industry.
