Following the launch of its Indian online marketplace in June 2013, Amazon India has added Computer & Accessories category to the list of consumer electronics it offers on its marketplace. Through this section, the company claims to provide over 7,000 products from over 180 brands including HP, Dell, Sony, Lenovo, Acer, Sony, Samsung, Logitech, Microsoft and Belkin, among others that offer products such as laptops, printers, routers, and external hard drives, to pen drives, keyboards, mouse and other accessories. Note that Amazon offered laptops and accessories on its marketplace in June 2013, however, it did not categorize them into Computer & accessories section. Users had to search individually in order to find a particular product in those categories. Prior to this, Amazon India only offered eBook, Kindles, movies and TV series, book, mobile accessories, cameras and portable media players on its store. By introducing computer and accessories section, Amazon India will also be competing directly with other e-commerce marketplaces like Flipkart, Snapdeal, among others. It is worth noting that Amazon India currently provides free shipping only to fulfillments made by Amazon. Customers need to pay for delivery from other merchants.
