Updated: Train Ticketing Back On Cleartrip Android App

Update (Dec 9): Cleartrip has brought back the ability to book train tickets from its Android app.There is no service fees for booking train tickets through the app and you end up spending the same amount you would through IRCTC, according to the company. It also added the feature of reserving hotel rooms to the app and uses data from TripAdvisor. July 10, 2013: Cleartrip has updated its Android app disabling the train booking feature. The updated version of the app removes the train booking feature altogether, while previous version of the app displays temporary error. On the Google Play Store, Cleartrip states that it has disabled the train booking feature due to minor glitches. We have contacted Cleartrip and will updated the article once we receive a response. If you had tried booking a train ticket using the Cleartrip app and faced any error, do let us know in comment. July 4, 2013: Online travel agent Cleartrip has launched a new version of its Android application that will allow users to book Indian railway tickets and check PNR status. The app is available for download from the Google Play Store. It's not clear when the company plans to introduce the service on its iOS app since it opens up Cleartrip's mobile site on Safari to book train tickets.
