BigFlix Inks Deal With Shemaroo For Content

Reliance Entertainment owned video streaming service BigFlix.com has inked a licensing agreement with Shemaroo Entertainment to secure streaming rights for movies under its catalog. While the deal period or the financial details of the deal were not disclosed, BigFlix claims that this partnership will allow them to offer movies in multiple languages including Hindi, Marathi, and Tamil. Movie titles in Hindi language include Mughal-E-Azam, Anari, Disco Dancer, Roti, Black, Sarfarosh, The Dirty Picture among others, while in Marathi language include Aaichcha Gondhal, Abhimanyu, Joshi ki Kamble, Juiley and movie titles in Tamil language include Balam, Ivar, Mahesh Saranya Matrum Palar and Manja Velu, among others. BigFlix is a subscription based on demand video service starting at Rs 99 per week and can be accessed via web and on smartphone platform such as iOS, Android, and Windows Phone. BigFlix Content Partnerships In April 2013, BigFlix had partnered IndiaCast, the content asset monetization joint venture between TV18 and Viacom18, to secure streaming rights for Hindi movie titles from Viacom 18 Motion Pictures. These included titles such as Inkaar, Oh My God, Department, Special 26 and other popular movie titles like Jab We Met, Kidnap, Golmaal Returns, Life Partner and Luck among others. In January 2013, BigFlix had partnered with Disney Media Distribution to bring around 140 Disney’s action and animation movies on their platform. These included Disney titles such as Pirates of the Caribbean, Tron Legacy, Tangled, Pearl Harbor and Chronicles of Narnia among others and Disney-Pixar titles such as Toy Story, Wall-E and Cars among others.
