Microsoft India Appoints Karan Bajwa As MD Sales & Marketing Group

Microsoft India has appointed Karan Bajwa as the new Managing Director of its sales and marketing group (SMSG) in the country. His new tenure starts in July 2013 and Sanket Akerkar, the current Managing Director will help with the transition until July. Bajwa will be based out of Gurgaon and will report to Bhaskar Pramanik, Chairman Microsoft India. Bajwa has been with the company for over five years and currently is the head of the enterprise business in India. The company notes that Sanket Akerkar will be moving back to the US to take up another assignment in the company. Akerkar has been with Microsoft Corporation since 2003 and moved to the Indian subsidiary in 2010. Besides Bajwa's appointment, the company has also announced that Floris van Heijst, General Manager – Marketing & Operations, Microsoft India, will take up a senior appointment within Europe in July 2013. Heijst had joined Microsoft in 2005 and has been in India since 2010. The exact position that Heijst and Akerkar has not been disclosed by the company yet. It's also not clear who will replace Floris Van Heijst.
