Changes afoot at Web18, the internet business of the Network18 group: the company has appointed CEOs for MoneyControl and IBNLive. Joyson Thomas has been made CEO of the companys mainstay, cash-cow business moneycontrol.com; Rajan Srinivasan, who was heading sales and marketing at Web18, has now been appointed the CEO of ibnlive.com. Thomas has been a mainstay at MoneyControl - 13 years and six months, according to his LinkedIn profile. He was among the founding members of MoneyControl, and was COO of Web18's financial verticals prior to this. What caught our attention is a possible fresh look at IBNLive.com - the press release quotes Lakshmi Narasimhan as saying that Srinivasan "will now steer the ibnlive and digital news operations based in Delhi onto new successes." IBNLive, based out of Delhi, has been something of an outpost (as opposed to FirstPost) for Web18, a majority of whose operations have been based in Mumbai. However, it has to be in Delhi, because that's where the TV channel it is linked to - CNN-IBN - operates from. We checked, and a move to Delhi is not on the cards for Srinivasan, who told MediaNama that he'll be leading a somewhat nomadic existence. Meanwhile, Srinivasan has eighteen years of experience in the media industry, including nine in the digital space. Prior to joining Network18 in 2003, he had stints with the Indian Express, Sony Entertainment Television and BBC World.
