Naukri’s Job Speak Index For Media Grew By 9% YoY, 8% MoM In March 2013

naukri-jobspeak-logoAccording to Naukri.com‘s Job Speak Index, an indicator of job listings on the website, hiring activity in the media sector in March 2013 grew by 8% Month-on-Month and by 9% Year-on-Year with index reaching 964. Note that the index for the Media sector covers Media, Internet and Mobile sectors.


There’s been a minor dip of 1.1% in the overall Naukri JobSpeak index for March 2013, when compared to previous month. However, the overall index has shown 11.5% increase in hiring year on year. The company notes that hiring in IT-Software, Auto and Oil & Gas has seen a dip in comparison to February 2013.

Sector wise: The company noted that all key industry sectors saw dip in indices in March 2013 on MoM basis except for Pharma, Construction and BPO sectors which saw a growth of 14%, 8%, and 6% respectively. Media and Real estate also saw a 5% and 7% increase in its indices respectively. The oil and gas sector witnesses maximum dip in hiring by 13%, while Software Service and Auto sectors saw hiring activity plunging by 5% and 4% respectively on MoM basis.

City wise: Bengaluru and Pune maintained steady hiring levels with 2% and 1% growth MoM, while Hyderabad witnessed 5% upward movement in the index MoM. Delhi & Mumbai saw a 5% dip in hiring, whereas Chennai saw 11% dip, maximum among top seven cities, after two months of consecutive upward movement.

Work Experience: Hiring activity dipped between 1-3% for all experience levels except for 0-3 years of experience levels which saw steady hiring activity in Mar-13 over Feb-13.
