Online travel agent MakeMyTrip has partnered with OneAssist Consumer Solutions, a Sequoia Capital and a Light Speed Venture Partners backed company, to provide assistance and protection products to its customers.
While the financial details of the partnership were not disclosed, OneAssist said that MakeMyTrip will be offering its products while booking tickets or holiday packages from the website. The products will be initially available for International travelers, but the company claims that these products will be rolled out to domestic travelers shortly.
Products offered
OneAssist Consumer Solutions currently offers various mobile and financial security and management solutions called WalletAssist, MobileAssist, EverydayAssist and TripAssist.
WalletAssist, EverydayAssist and TripAssist offer fraud cover against credit/bank cards, replacement for identification documents in case of theft, emergency travel tickets, cash assistance, and other benefits. Update: OneAssist informs us that it does not provide fraud protection if the cards are not physically lost.
MobileAssist offers mobile related services like SIM and Phone blocking, automated back-ups of contacts, SMS, photos and videos, remote wipe, emergency messaging to friends and family, along with security features like firewall and anti-virus.
The company noted that in case the traveller loses his credit or debit card or smartphone, he can make a call to OneAssist from anywhere in the world, following which OneAssist will block the traveller’s credit, debit, prepaid and travel cards to prevent further misuse, protect their phone data and also help settling their hotel bills, book travel tickets with necessary information and documentation in case the traveller is unable to do so.
OneAssist also provides customers with 1GB of online storage space, through an e-locker facility called Docusafe, where one can store important documents like financial identification and travel papers.
When we checked, we noticed that MakeMyTrip is currently offering these services as part of its travel assistance services. Others travel assistance services offered by the company include Travel Insurance plans in partnership with Apollo Munich and International SIM Cards and Forex cards in partnership with Matrix.
That being said, OneAssist however notes that all the data is stored in its servers, since it contains sensitive personal information like credit card details and card expiration details so as to block the card in case of theft.
Pricing: OneAssist said that TripAssist will be available on a monthly subscription plan of Rs 599 per month, while WalletAssist and MobileAssist will be available on an annual subscription plan priced at Rs 1,099 per year apiece, and Everyday Assist will be available on an annual subscription plan priced at Rs 2,199 per year.
The company will also be offering an additional plan called MobileAssist Privilege, which will be priced at Rs 1,499 per year and will offer customers with a temporary handset with all their phone book contacts, within 6 hours of lodging the complaint.
