Whistling Woods, a film, communication and media arts institute, has announced the launch of Whistling Woods Virtual Academy (WWVA). The WWVA is an e-learning platform, where Whistling Woods International will offer web-based courses in Film, TV, Communication, Animation and other Media Arts. The courses will be a combination of audio-visual playback, online and offline interactions with faculty as needed and online and offline assignments. The announcement of the WWVA comes on the heels of their recent tie-ups with Bradford College, UK and Trend Media City, Nigeria, to set up campuses in the UK & Nigeria. The WWVA will commence classes in July-August 2013 with admissions being opened by the first week of February 2013 for a 1 year diploma certificate course in film-making (Online). The course will also allow students access to some of the Whistling Woods master-classes, which involves advice from Bollywood know-hows as well as experience both online and offline expert guidance by industry heads. The one year diploma course includes 120 Modules of 2 hours each over one year including script writing, producing, direction, cinematography, editing, and sound. The one year certificate course is priced at Rs 90,000. We feel that a course like film-making requires practical hands-on training, and the course must cover that, if it really wants to be relevant.
