News Digest: Sulekha, Cyber Security, Lukup Media, LinkedIn, Aircel

Sulekha.com, a service marketplace site has partnered with Wego, Singapore based travel metasearch site to power their new service — travel.sulekha.com. Wego will provide a price comparison option for flight ticket and hotel booking for Sulekha, while rest of the content is managed by Sulekha. 

In May 2012, Wego launched its India operations with an India-specific portal, Wego India. Wego’s services are available in 11 national languages, including Bengali, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, among others.

Nikhil adds: Frankly, nothing substantive about this deployment; the travel segment on Sulekha number 11 among Sulekha’s classifieds offerings, halfway down the page, and gives classifieds listings more prominence than Wego’s services. Who goes to Sulekha to plan travel anyway? This must be a pay-per-lead kind of deal.

India will set up a national cyber security architecture to prevent sabotage, espionage and other forms of attack that could hurt the country, reports The Economic Times. The architecture will involve monitoring, certification and assurance of the networks by agencies and bodies in accordance with the law. While the National Security Council has approved the architecture, the implementation process is being discussed with the ministries and agencies.

Lukup Media, a cross-platform interactive advertising company, has signed an agreement with Mediabrands Indonesia, the media arm of the Interpublic Group, to offer rich media mobile advertising and consumer engagement solutions to advertisers, brands and content providers. Users just need to type a URL in their mobile browser which subscribes them to the brand. Brands can then push rich media notifications to them based on their location. Lukup’s platform is available on Smartphone platforms such as Android, iOS, BlackBerry, and Windows Phone.

Nikhil adds: we’re really not sure what exactly Lukup is. Lukup.tv is a DTH advertising firm, but maybe that didn’t work out. They’re now trying to be an interactive TV service at Lukup.com, a mobile subscription platform on Lukup.mobi. Now there’s a TV audience measurement system at Lukup.info too.

Lukup Media responds:  Lukup Media provides content and advertisement for multiple platforms that include TV and mobile phones. Lukup Media is the parent company that handles all these SBUs.

Dhiman Mukherji, director, marketing solutions at LinkedIn India, has left the company, reports Techcircle. It’s not clear where he will be heading next. The announcement comes in the heels of the recently management overhaul in the company with the appointment of Nishant K Rao as a Country Manager for its India operations. Hari Krishnan had also been moved into a larger role as the Managing Director of Asia- Pacific and Japan.

Mukherji had joined LinkedIn in 2010 and was responsible for developing the strategy and team for Advertising sales. Prior to LinkedIn, he worked at AOL India at various positions including Head of Sales and Regional Head. He has also worked with Google India, Rediff and The Times of India.

Ravinder Jain, Chief Business officer – Enterprises at Aircel, has put in his papers, reports Light Reading India. It’s not clear where he’ll be heading next.

Jain served at Aircel at various positions including Chief Business officer and Chief Information officer. Prior to joining Aircel, Jain worked at Vodafone as VP, at Hutchison Essar Telecommunications as a VP – Information Technology and at NavinMail services India Ltd as a VP & Head Operations.
