FirstLook: Bangalore One Digital Bill Payments Service On Wheels Launches

Exclusive: Bangalore One, Karnataka government’s e-governance initiative will formally launch two of its digital enabled 'service on wheels' buses next week. We chanced upon one of the buses in Bangalore today. All the Business-to-consumer and Government-to-consumer services currently available to the customers at the Bangalore One centres will be available on these buses that will be moving around the city. Bangalore One was launched as a PPP in association with CMS Computer Ltd. in 2005. Services offered These buses will move around residential areas enabling citizens to make online payments of their bills right at their doorstep. Customers have the option of making payments via cheque, cash and even cards on these buses. Each bus will be staffed with one operator for each of the four counters and one accountant or manager who will accompany them. The 34 services currently provided by Bangalore One includes B2C services like Airtel, Vodofone, Tata phone bill payments, flight, hotel, movie, events bookings, dish tv payments etc. and G2C services like BSNL mobile and landline bills, property tax, water, electricity payments, RTO, insurance premium payments etc. Although, Aadhar registration will soon be introduced at the Bangalore One centres, this service will not be available on these buses. Launched as a one stop shop to make bill payments, Bangalore One currently has about 87 centres in the city with 68 of them being main centres providing 24x7 service to the customers while others are mini centers that are open from 8AM to 8PM.
