Update: Quikr has appointed Atul Tewari as its new head of Operations, reports TechCircle. Quikr CEO Pranay Chulet has confirmed this appointment to the publication, although he hasn't disclosed Atul's role in the company. Prior to this appointment, Tewari was serving as the Managing Director (MD) at BlackRock, an asset management company. Besides this, he's also had stints at Calibrated Logistics, smartData Enterprises, MicroAge- Smart Solutions Inc and RMSI. Earlier (Nov 30): Jiby Thomas, co-Founder and Vice President (Marketing) at Quikr, the popular online classifieds website has quit the company. Thomas has confirmed his move to MediaNama, but did not comment on his next move and said that he was still evaluating his options, and would update us in the coming weeks. Thomas co-founded Quikr in 2008 with Pranay Chulet. It was essentially the rebranded version of Kijiji, a classifieds site which was one of eBay's subsidiaries. Thomas was previously Head of Operations at Kijiji India. Kijiji.in was owned by eBay Inc's subsidiary, Kijiji International, which operates classified portals across various parts of the world. In 2008, Mumbai based venture capitalist (VC), Matrix Partners India, invested in the Indian venture, Kijiji.in, following which Kijiji.in was hived off Kijiji International and restructured as an independent company, jointly owned by Matrix Partners and eBay Inc. Thomas also served as Senior Manager - B2B Motors at eBay India. He had joined Baazee.com in January 2000. Note that Baazee was acquired by eBay in 2004.
