DesignCrowd, an Australian crowd-sourcing based design marketplace, has launched its operations in India, Singapore and the Philippines. Users in India can access the website at Designcrowd.co.in. DesignCrowd is an online marketplace that provides logo, website, print and graphic design services by offering access to freelance graphic designers and design studios around the world. The website lets users submit a design project requirement including logos, web design, print design, flyer design, t-shirt design, among others. Users can register on the website as designers or as customers. The website allows anyone to upload a design or participate in the contest. Customers can also set a budget, invite the platform’s group designers, and make a payment once the design is approved. What's interesting is that once a design is approved by the customer and a payment has been made, only designers can check out the designs preventing the work from being copied by some third party. The company claims that its website has over 92,148 registered designers from around the world and that half of DesignCrowd’s top 20 designers come from Asia, while India is also DesignCrowd’s fourth largest source of users after the US, UK and Australia. Launched in 2008, DesignCrowd was founded by Alec Lynch and Adam Arbolino. In November 2011, the company raised $3 million from Australian venture capital firm Starfish Ventures. About three months ago, the company launched its operations in UK and Canada.
