Vriti Infocom, an eLearning company, has appointed Anil Pande as Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Pande has 33 years of experience in IT, Telecom and Convergence space. Prior to joining Vriti Infocom, he was working with Reliance Communication as a Head – VAS (Value Added Services). Apart from RCom, he has also worked with Wipro, Pertech Computers and BPL in roles spanning B2B solution sales and product management.
Murli Ravi, Head, South Asia investments, JAFCO Asia, an investor in Vriti, said that Pande’s experience in the mobility space will help in adding value to Vriti. In 2010, Vriti Infocom raised $5 million in a series B funding from JAFCO Asia and Intel Capital.
Last month, Vriti Infocom sold one of its web properties, Connectindia, to Spade Financial Services in an all cash deal. Connectindia is an aggregator for mobile tariff plans and Internet plans, and allows users to compare various prepaid and postpaid tariff plans available in the market. It should be noted that in November 2011, Vriti Infocomm had spun off two of its web properties, ConnectIndia.in and hotel booking engine, IndiaHotelReview.com, in a bid to reposition itself as an e-learning firm.
Earlier this year, Vriti had launched VLearnSmart, an education platform which brings authors, distributors and students together to find, create and sell education courses. The firm had also partnered with Tata McGraw-Hill Education to launch free, online ‘Smart Courses’ for Engineering and Management, on Android tablet devices. It had claimed to offer 100 free full courses in the higher education segments of Engineering and Management.
