Tyroo Direct, the performance marketing division of online ad network Tyroo, has appointed Tathagata Sarkar to lead Engineering at its newly created technology vertical within the company. The company claims that Tryoo Direct’s technology team will focus on building enterprise products for the digital market.

Prior to joining Tyroo Direct, Tathagata Sarkar worked as a Senior Technical Consultant (Collaboration Line) at Microsoft. He has also worked at AppLabs as a Technical Architect.

Apart from hiring Tathagata Sarkar, Tyroo Direct has also promoted Saurabh Tuteja as lead Product Development. He’s been with the organisation for 2 years, serving as Engineering Manager.

Arvind Sharma, chairman of India sub-continent, at Leo Burnett, has been appointed as Chairman of the Board of The Advertising Standards Council of India (ASCI) at a board meeting. He has been in the Board of Governors for seven years.

Advertising Standards Council of India is a self-regulatory voluntary organization of the advertising industry. Initiatives by ASCI include increasing the frequency of Consumer Complaints Council to twice a month, introduction of the Fast Track Service, having a National Conference on Strengthening Self-Regulation of Advertising Content, engaging with young Creatives through a Mobile Film Contest at the Goafest, interacting with the Department of Consumer Affairs and participating in their Conferences on Misleading Advertisements.

The Audit Bureau of Circulation (ABC) has elected Shailesh Gupta as the chairman of the bureau for 2012-13, reports Afaqs. Shailesh Gupta, is currently, Director – Marketing, at Jagran Prakashan. Prior to Gupta, Sam Balsara, chairman and managing director, Madison Communications, held the position.

Gupta has been with Jagran Prakashan since 1994, and is also a member of the Indian Newspaper Society.

Founded in 1948, ABC is a not for profit, voluntary organisation consisting of Publishers, Advertisers and Advertising Agencies. The Bureau issues ABC certificates every six months to those publishers whose circulation figures confirm to the rules and regulations as set out by the Bureau. ABC’s membership includes 411 Publishers of national and regional importance, 151 Advertising Agencies, 51 Advertisers & 20 New Agencies and Associations connected with print media and advertising.
