Careers360 Launches Study Abroad Portal

Careers360, a career counselor brand owned by Pathfinder publishing, has launched a new portal at studyabroad.careers360.com for students who want to abroad abroad. The company claims that the portal would answer the how, why, when, where, what for students who want to study abroad.

Portal: Students can register on the website with their email address or via Facebook connect. The portal provides basic guides on subjects like Application advisory, life abroad, finances and financial help. It also provides country specific ‘study abroad’ guides including guides for popular educational destinations such as UK, the USA, Australia, Singapore, among others. The country guide features sections ranging from why to study in a specific country to Visa applications and guidelines. It also features the list of universities popular among Indian students in a specific country. Careers360 informed MediaNama that all the articles on the website are tailor made for the portal, as they also publish a magazine and an almanac.

Apart from that, the portal highlights information about tests that needs to be taken for education in foreign countries such as IELTS (International English Language Testing System), TOEFL, GMAT, LSAT, MCAT, among others. It also features scholarship programs available for countries such as UK, USA, Australia, among others. The portal also hosts a discussion forum where students can engage with other aspirants.

Monetization: Currently, the portal offers counseling packages on the website starting from Rs 1299, while a full fledged package costs Rs. 9,999. It also offers a free counseling package that includes features such as a newsletter, chat with the university and a common application form.

Apart from these, Careers360 informed MediaNama that with multiple products like News letters, common application form, Chats, counseling etc. , they would collect enough information of students who are interested in studying abroad – which can be monetized. Careers360 would use the data base to help institutions to reach out to students, therefore monetizing on the database.

Other Career360 developments: In July 2012, career360 launched a career counseling portal targeted at engineering college aspirants at engineering.careers360.com. For the Engineering portal the company launched a Mock Counseling Engine, Campus Ambassador Program —  which helps students contribute College Reviews and stake holders engage students in Chat Sessions, counseling sessions etc. The company claims that its digital section has seen 300 percent increase in the reach in 5 months.

Other Players:

The portal essentially competes with offline agencies that provide counseling to students who study abroad. On the Online front, it competes with players such as ILW – which provides similar service, however, it does not allow students to book a counseling package online.
