UrbanLadder.com Raises $1 Million From IndoUS Venture Partners

UrbanLadder.com, which is operated by Bangalore based Descasa Decor Online Private Limited, has raised $1 million in funding. IndoUS Venture Partners led the round from its recent fund. The funding received will be used to strengthen the team, build the customer service infrastructure and invest in technology.

UrbanLadder, founded by Ashish Goel and Rajiv Srivatsa, recently added Nikhil Ramaprakash as VP, Online Product, Kaustabh Chakraborty as VP, Operations and Shubha Hegde as VP, Marketing.

Product Offering: Urbanladder.com currently offers a range of coffee tables, side tables, dining tables, balcony sets, book-racks, display units, wall racks, among others. The company also expects to launch products such as sofas and beds and other specialty furniture like easy chairs and bunk beds. The website provides comparison of the product dimension to an average person’s height which might give customers a comprehensive idea of the size of the product. For now the company catalog seems to be limited to 2-3 products in each category.

Shipping, Payment and Warranty

The website supports major payment options including credit/debit card, and net banking payments. It also offers COD on products below the price point of Rs 5,000 exclusively in Bangalore. It also offers ability to pay via credit/debit card on COD. The company claims that the products are delivered within 10-15 days of placing an order. The company provides 12 months of replacement warranty against any manufacturing defects and any other issues with the material that has been used.

No User Profile?

Unlike other eCommerce sites, UrbanLadder.com does not provide a user with a profile on the website, that means no central space to track one’s shopping history. We find this strange, as most e-commerce site integrate this option.
