Google has updated Google Maps for Android app (version 6.10) and has added new features to the app. The app has also added schedules for Bangalore MTC, Chennai MRTS, Delhi Integrated Multi Modal Transit System, DMRC, Northern Railway, Delhi Metro Rail, Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Service – APSRTC, Hyderabad Multi Modal Transit System, MMTS, Kolkata Metro, KMRC, Eastern Railway, CSTC, CTC, TMT, Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation Ltd, NMMT, BEST, KDMC, and Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal ltd.
Users can either update or download the app from Google’s Play Store.
The updated version of the app also brings in new features like the ability to select a specific mode of public transportation (train, bus, tram or subway) to display on the mobile map, hiding the other modes, and an update to the layout of station pages, that is, now users can open it by tapping on the name of the station on their mobile map.
Apart from that, Google has also added a new ‘region highlighting’ feature – whenever anyone makes a search for a city or postal code, the borders of that region will be highlighted. The app has also added new tabs under ‘My Places’ which will gather all the information from a single place; from saved maps for offline usage and custom maps on desktop. Apart from that if users enable location history, they will be able to browse the places that they have been visiting on a daily basis with an updated location history dashboard.
Previously, Google had introduced transit information for Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC), Ahmedabad Municipal Transport Services (AMTS), bus and local train/Metro routes for Mumbai and Delhi, bus routes for Pune, Delhi, Ahmedabad Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore and local train/metro routes for Kolkata and Chennai on maps.google.com and Google Maps for mobile.
