Mobile gaming company, Gameloft has partnered with mobile chipset manufacturer, Mediatek to support gaming applications on MediaTek's feature and smartphone platforms. Gameloft has allocated a dedicated R&D team and game development teams in France,Vietnam, and China to create games that will run on MediaTek powered mobile platforms. MediaTek recently launched its single chip solution, the MT6255, which will come pre-loaded with Gameloft titles -- Asphalt 6: Adrenaline, as well as trial versions of Block Breaker 3, Assassin's Creed Revelations, and Brain Challenge 3. MediaTek's chipset are usually found on feature phones and are powered by Maui Runtime Environment (MRE). Usually Gameloft titles are immediately available to Smartphones but not feature phones. MediaTek is certainly trying to make the feature phone more attractive, while Gameloft will be able to reach out to more users since its game demos will be pre-loaded on the phones, aiding discovery, and will be able to offer a direct path to users for purchasing these games. Indian handset makers like Micromax, Spice and Karbonn, which offer MediaTek based handsets will benefit from the tie-up. MediaTek's Previous Tie-ups: Previously, MediaTek had tied up with MoMagic, in which MediaTek had made an undisclosed investment, where it launched its app store for MediaTek's MRE ( Maui Runtime Environment) platform. In a move to enhance its gaming catalog, MoMagic had earlier partnered with Disney’s Indiagames to develop games based on MediaTek’s MRE platform.
