Thota has experience of over nineteen years in web and computing infrastucture and prior to this appointment, he was serving as the Chief Technology Officer of the online travel portal Yatra.com, where he was responsible for the development of Yatra’s new platform, managing and making improvements to the website and driving Yatra’s strategic initiatives. Before Yatra, he served as the Senior Manager – Software Development at Amazon.com and Senior Manager (Product and Software Development) at Yahoo. He’s also had stints BroadVision, Equifax Inc and Bellsouth Cellular Corporation.
Along with this announcement, Freecharge.in also revealed that the company has clocked 1.5 million users since its inception in 18 months, which is the same number Freecharge.in had stated when it raised Rs 20 crore from Sequoia Capital, following a seed investment from them in 2011. Speaking with Medianama, Kunal Shah, Accelyst co-Founder and CEO, had stated then that the funds raised will be used to launch mobile website and mobile apps, launch new products and add more merchants to its business.
