John Kuruvilla has stepped down from his position from Flightraja Travels Pvt. Ltd’s travel service company Via, reports
Techcircle. He now intends to take a sabbatical and launch his own venture after an year. There is currently no information on which segment will this venture focus on.
John Kuruvilla was the founder and advisor of the group buying turned e-commerce venture Taggle.com which shut down its operations in December 2011, citing that it doesn’t want to get into the ‘Last-Man-Standing game’ in the e-commerce space. Prior to this venture, John Kuruvilla was the Chief Revenue Officer & Head of Marketing at Air Deccan, and helped launch Deccan 360. Following this, he served as Executive Vice President -Marketing for the Oberoi Group. His other stints include Propmart Technologies Ltd, Leo Burnett/Orchard Advertising, Contract Advertising and Ammirati Puris Lintas, a subsidiary of Interpublic Group of Companies Inc, a marketing communications and services company.
Reports had suggested that John Kuruvilla had joined Via as its chief marketing officer, although there was no official communication regarding it and John Kuruvilla had declined to confirm his new role. However, it now turns out that he was apparently on a time-bound agreement to work on a specific assignment for the company related to branding, marketing and customer acquisition, which has completed now and he has decided to move on.
Prior to this appointment, Gulab Makhija was the Vice President – Finance & Accounts at the TV Today Network Limited where he was responsible for managing the network’s financial resources and reducing its distribution cost through market analysis and negotiations. Apart from this, he’s also had stints at B.A.G. Films & Media Limited, Farm Equipment & Machinery Co and Korbett Steel Pvt. Ltd.
India TV has also appointed Rohit Lal as VP-Programming and Prashant Sharda as VP-Digital Media to look after India TV’s website and its presence across various digital channels like mobile, 3G, and streaming services, while working towards digital convergence for the company. Rohit Lal has previously looked after programming of television channels like Zee, IBN and Star News while Prashant Sharda was previously working as Business Development Manager – Nokia Services and has previously had stints with NDTV Convergence Ltd, Times Internet Ltd*, Siel Ltd, and Kidstuff Promotions.
Other appointments include Shubhra Manasi as DGM to look after the company’s strategic planning and research functions and Pradeep Khatri as chief manager- marketing, responsible for the company’s marketing communication, sales support & sponsorship marketing functions.
Paritosh Joshi has stepped down from his role as the CEO of STAR CJ Network, effective April 23, 2012, reports Afaqs. Paritosh Joshi stated that he plans to start his own venture in the media and entertainment space, although he didn’t reveal any further details about his new venture.
Paritosh Joshi had joined the Star Network in August 2005 as the President – Advertising Sales & Distribution and President, Star India Pvt Ltd. In March 2009, he was appointed as the the CEO of STAR CJ Network India Pvt Ltd, a 50:50 joint venture of News Corp owned Star TV and South Korean firm CJ Shopping.
Besides Star Networks, he’s also worked at Richardson Hindustan Ltd, Proctor & Gamble India Ltd, Lintas India, ITC Limited, Business Standard, The Maharaja Organisation (Sri Lanka), e-Commodities Ltd, Quest International. He is currently the director at Indian Broadcasting Foundation, Member of the Board of Governors at Media Research Users Council and a Mentor at MentorEdge, a CIIE initiative by Mentors and Experts across India to provide hand-holding, mentoring and networking support to aspiring entrepreneurs.
