Getit Ties Up With Loop Mobile To Launch Local Info Service

Delhi based classifieds business GetIt Infoservices has tied up with telecom operator, Loop Mobile, to launch ‘Getit on Loop’, through which, Getit will power Loop Mobile’s local search and classifieds services. Loop users can access the service by dialing the short code 54422 which will allow them to talk to GETIT’s call centre agent.

Services: While the local search service will offer Loop susbcribers with information on general products and services like hotels, restaurants, taxi services, real estate agents, financial agents, packers and movers; the classifieds service will allow individuals or businesses who are Loop users, to post classified advertisements free of charge or get special discounts to post through Getit’s premium posting services.

Other Similar Services: Getit had earlier tied-up with Aircel to offer its information and classified ads service through voice to Aircel subscribers. Another local search player, AskLaila had also tied up with Airtel to offer local search services through WAP, SMS, USSD and DTH across 6 cities including Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Bangalore. It also currently powers Tata Docomo’s local search services to its subscribers, which allows Tata Docomo subscribers to search for places around them through SMS, WAP or through a dedicated app which can be downloaded by sending ‘Search’ to 53333. In 2008, Loop mobile which was then known as BPL mobile, had launched a USSD and SMS based service called “Mumbai Search @cafe”, which allowed BPL Mobile users to search for local information.

Other Services From Getit: Last month, Getit had integrated doctor appointments within its listings through a new feature called “Book an appointment-Doctors Module” on its website Getit.in and on its voice platform ‘Call Getit’ on 44444444. Before that, Getit had introduced a deals service website called GetIt Hot Deals which offered deals from partners across various categories like  restaurants, spas, car servicing, household goods, holiday packages, computers, furniture and others and an online service called GetItMalls which allowed users to search for a mall or store based on their preferred locations, brands and categories.

It had also launched mobile sitesiPhone apps and SMS browser app in collaboration with Shorthand Mobile, for its Getit business directory and Free Ads classifieds services. The company had raised 20 crores ($4 million) from Helion Ventures in 2009 and sold 50% of its stake to a Malaysian investor Astro for around Rs 100 crore.
