According to the Indian telecom regulator TRAI, India witnessed a growth of 1.03% in its broadband connection base, taking the total number of broadband connections to 12.98 million in October 2011 from 12.84 million in September. The mobile connection base increased to 881.40 Million in October as compared to 873.61 Million in September, an increase of 0.89%. However, the active mobile connection base is 71.04% of total, at 626.14 million connections. Active User Base of Telecom Operators The Active connection data represents peak VLR (Visitor Location Register) data for the month, and excludes the CDMA VLR data for BSNL, which the telecom operator has not provided. Some stats: - There were 626.14 million active connection in the month of October. - Idea has 92.03% of its connections active- the maximum among all the operators. - Airtel has the second highest active connection base of 88.79%, followed by Vodafone at 82.79%. - Etisalat, S Tel, MTNL, and Videocon are at the bottom in terms of the number of active subscribers. - However, in terms of the number of active subscribers, Airtel leads with 154.25 million, followed by Vodafone at 120.80 million, RCOM at 95.65 million and Idea at 93.70 million. Mobile Operator Leaderboard For October 2011: - Uninor added 2.66 million connections, taking its connection base to 32.31 million. - Idea Cellular added 1.63 million connections,taking its connection base to 101.81 million. - RCom added 1.03 million connections, taking its connection base to 148.11 million. - Bharti Airtel added 0.94 million…
