Yahoo India has added more content partners to its video section, bringing the total number of content partners to 35 partners, span across genres like News, Entertainment, Lifestyle and Movies, reports Alootechie.
The video section which was launched in September 2011, will now feature news videos from like NDTV, Headlines Today , Aajtak, Newzstreet, ANI, Star News, Star Majha, Star Ananda; Entertainment TV Shows from Star Plus, Star One, Channel V, Star Pravah, Star Jalsa, Star Vijay, Star World, 9XM; Business and finance videos from NDTV Profit and Bollywood videos from NDTV, Newzstreet, Lehren, Glamsham, Saanskruti, Movie Talkies, Nine Winds, and Digit 9.
The video section also features a mixture of full-length Bollywood movies from partners like Digit 9, Shemaroo, Ultra, Reliance Pictures, Sri Ganesh Video, Star Entertainment, PVR Pictures, Shree International and Regional & English Movies from Digit 9, Shemaroo, Ultra, Kavithalaya, and Sri Ganesh Video under a section called ‘MoviePlex‘, which is quite odd considering that Yahoo already owns a video destination called Movieplex, which was launched in August this year and airs full-length movies for free. We wonder if both these sections will be merged together to form a single entity in the future.
Nikhil adds: The difference between a news site and a video only site is that a news site can be topical and editorialize content and it can also embed videos around the relevant news story in comparison, whereas a video only site depends on social or serendipitous discovery of content.
