Earlier: Haresh Chawla, Group CEO of Network18 has put in his papers reports Best Media Info. Chawla whose stint with the company lasted close to ten years, intends to pursue other interests after overseeing a seamless leadership succession plan at the Network18 media conglomerate, across all operations including news & entertainment broadcasting, web portals, publications, filmed entertainment and ecommerce operations and Viacom18. According to the report, Network18 Founder and CEO has confirmed the development and said that over the next few months, Chawla will work closely with him and other senior executive to ensure a seamless transition of leadership. Chawla was responsible for conceptualising the Viacom18 conglomerate, a 50:50 JV with Viacom, and has been credited for the launch and success of the group's General Entertainment Channel, Colors. He was previously associated with start-ups including the HCL Group, where he headed business development for HCL Comnet; ABCL, where he played a role in setting up the Film Distribution Business, and at the Times of India Group where he was credited for launching their music label - Times Music. He is an IIT-Mumbai and IIM-Calcutta alumnus.
