Naspers and Tencent owned Ibibo group, has announced the appointment of Krishna Motukuri, as Managing Director of its e-commerce business. Ibibo’s e-commerce division runs websites (Online shopping), Tradusads (Online classifieds), (Auto classifieds) and (Travel).

Motukuri’s appointment follows the exit of Rahul Sethi, who had joined Ibibo’s e-commerce division in 2009, at the time of its inception, as President. Sethi’s Linkedin profile indicates that he left the company last month, to launch his own start-up.

Motukuri previously served as Associate Director at Amazon, where he headed teams in various divisions, including search, co-op marketing, global expansion and supply chain. He also co-founded Amazon’s Bangalore center in 2004. After a seven year stint, Motukuri left Amazon in 2006 to raise venture-funding and start Ugenie, a comparison shopping site with offices in Silicon Valley and Bangalore.

Motukuri became Senior Vice President of Business Development  at Lulu, after Lulu acquired weRead, a social media app for book lovers on Facebook developed by Ugenie. Lately he’s also been advisor to companies like Infibeam, Live Complete and Apptitude.
