As per the Indian Telecom Regulator, India had a total of 155 pay channels. Nearly 37.41% of the channels lie in the price bracket of Rs 5 to Rs 9.99 while only 1.29% are in the range of Rs 25 - Rs 29.99. The average rate of pay channels for March 2011 was Rs 11.20. Some Observations: - Zee Trendz and Channel V had the lowest tarrif for March 2011 with Rs 1.07. Neo Cricket, ESPN, Star Sports and Ten Cricket had the maximum tariff with Rs 35.45. - The average rate of sports channels was Rs 30.63. - The tariffs for Zee TV:Rs 13.88, Star Plus: Rs 18.73 and Sony (SET): Rs 21.40 - Among the 24 hour news channels, NDTV, CNBC TV 18 and Times Now had a price of Rs 9.10 for March 2011 - the maximum.
