The Naspers and TenCent owned social networking site Ibibo has partnered with telecom equipment and device maker, Huawei to offer its applications, games and virtual currency on Huawei mobile handsets.Although we have seen content and app bundling tie-ups from many companies including the recent Yahoo-Mediatek deal, to embed Yahoo’s services into MediaTek’s mobile platform solutions. However, this is the first one from the Indian social network, Ibibo. Under the partnership: - Games: Ibibo's social and multiplayer games like ibibo Teenpatti, ibibo Farms and The Great Indian Parking Wars will be available on mobile handsets made by Huawei, including on the Android powered smartphones IDEOS Chat, X2 and X5. - ibrowser: In addition to games, Ibibo will offer virtual currency in the form of 400 icoins, worth Rs 100 with all Huawei mobile handsets. Huawei handsets will also feature Ibibo's ibrowser mobile browser, essentially a repurposed version of the Tencent QQ Mobile browser. - Free SMS/Calls: Ibibo's social networking applications including Free Call / Free SMS apps will also be pre-embedded on Huawei handsets. - Selling Phones Online: Ibibo will sell Huawei handsets through its shopping portal Tradus.in - offering deals and offers on them. Although pre-embedding apps and content helps in extending their reach, we are not sure if this holds equally true for Android based smartphones, which have access to the Android Market, to download additional apps.
