In India, DSL (or Digital Subscriber Line) had the maximum number of subscribers as on quarter ending March 2011 with 102.82 lakh. The Wireless subscriber base witnessed an increase of 7.67%, from 21.23 lakh in December 2010 to 22.86 lakh in March 2011, accounting for 86.09% of total broadband subscribers. There were 55.33 lakh Dialup subscribers for quarter ending March 2011 in contrast with 55.56 lakh for December 2010. The Leased line subscriber base witnessed an increase of 25% taking its subscriber toll to 0.45 lakh. Cable Modem accounted for 5.97% of broadband connections.
