Verismo Launches Entertainment Services With Sab Kanaujia As President

Intel Capital funded Verismo Networks, which enables video and broadband content delivery on TV for OEMs and MSOs, has launched an entertainment services division with Sab Kanaujia, previously VP(Digital) at NBC Universal, as President (Entertainment Services). Prior to joining Verismo, Kanaujia had launched Digital Entertainment Corporation of India (DECI), a holding company, focused on launching entertainment services (with Indian content) to a global audience. DECI has been acquired by Verismo, Kanaujia told MediaNama. Kanaujia will be responsible for content acquisition, product, operations, marketing and distribution. So this means that Verismo, which has platforms and devices for powering content delivery (more of their deployment with ACT in Bangalore), could increase its focus on content acquisition for aggregation. Last year, Versimo had announced the launch of Sonic Solutions' Roxio CinemaNow premium content for ACT, allowing purchase and rental of content over IPTV. At NBCU, Kanaujia was a part of the team that incubated Hulu.com, launched the companys strategic digital venture with Ten Sports, and with NDTV, the NBCU backed relaunch of NDTV.com.
