One of the questions left unanswered during Bharti Airtel’s recent conference call was about the appointment of CEOs for its consumer services businesses units. Now we have an answer: Rajiv Rajgopal takes over as CEO-Broadband/Data, and Shashi Arora takes over as CEO-DTH/Media services. Both these verticals are a part of Airtel’s Consumer Business Group, and Rajgopal and Arora will report to K. Srinivas, President (Consumer Business) for Airtel. Rajgopal was previously in the mobile division, and led the integration of Tamil Nadu and Kerala circles for Airtel. Shashi Arora was previously leading Airtel’s Delhi and Upper North circles, again, from mobile.
Airtel underwent a restructuring a few months ago, and split into two types of business units: Business to Customer (B2C) and Business to Business (B2B). The B2C unit comprises of Consumer Business and Market Operations divisions. Consumer Business comprises of Mobile, Telemedia, Digital TV, and other emerging businesses (like M-commerce, M-health, M-advertising). Market Operations will be responsible for taking products and services to customers in South Asia, working in tandem with the Consumer Business division. Market Operations into three regions, each headed by an Operations Director: The North, East & Bangladesh operations are led by Ajai Puri, South & Sri Lanka operations by Vineet Taneja; operations in the West are led by Raghunath Mandava.
