Tata Teleservices Launches Location Based Services For Enterprise

Tata Teleservices (TTSL) has launched enhanced location-based services (LBS) for enterprise customers for tracking and management of assets during transportation and remote workforce management. The company claims that the services are based on multiple technologies including GPS(Global Positioning system), cell tower tracking and A-GPS (Assisted GPS), which is powered by Qualcomm, making them more accurate and providing enterprise users the ability to track assets even inside buildings and covered structures. Its mobile network-based location technology-powered solution will allow them to implement workforce management solutions including employee safety, sales force automation, service ticket allocation. Applications for businesses under Tata Tele's Location Based Services include vehicle and fleet tracking, consignment and cargo tracking, insurance solutions, fuel consumption monitoring, workforce tracking including employee security solutions, navigation assistance, identification in case of emergency, and map assistance through location points of interest, among others. All these services will be based on hybrid network technology, and will be offered connectivity via TTSL's CDMA and GSM networks. The company informs that customers will be provided with a secure web portal / GUI access to track and generate relevant reports related to the movement of the vehicles or consignments. The reports and alerts will be integrated with SMS or custom mobile applications which it intends to develop for the customers based on their specific requirements. MediaNama had earlier reported that the new Equipment Security Agreement requires telecom operators to maintain location information up to accuracy of 50 meters for customers specified by Security Agencies to 50 meters by 1st June…
