Comviva, a Bharti Group owned mobile value added services company, has partnered with content providers GTech and Sangeeta in Bangladesh for providing mobile music related services in the country. According to The Financial Express (Bangladesh), G Tech is the sister concern of the G Series music label (we couldn't find its website), and has also launched a number of SMS related services on GrameenPhone, on the short code 4878. GTech Proprietor Nazmul Haque Bhuiyan says in a statement that Ringtones and Ringback Tones are the largest revenue generators (in the Bangladesh market), though he expects full track downloads and music streaming (mobile radio?) to experience the largest growth in usage. What's not clear about this deal is whether Comviva's merely providing its platform to the music owners, or has it paid a minimum guarantee and licensed content for monetization. Airtel Bangladesh recently crossed the 5 million subscriber mark.
