Sony Ericsson has appointed P. Balaji as the Managing Director for its India operations, reports The Economic Times. Balaji was previously working with Ericsson India as the VP, Communications, Corporate Affairs & Business Development. He has also worked with organizations like AT&T, Lucent India and Tata Group. This comes straight after Pawan Chaddha had reportedly quit the role of Country Head. Balaji is expected to oversee Sony Ericsson's position in the Android market, especially with respect to Xperia smartphones in India. Concurrently, Sony Ericsson has launched a new Android based phone, Xperia PLAY, a PlayStation certified smartphone in India. Besides, it also announced the launch of its first update for the users of Xperia Arc smartphones, which will now be upgraded to Android Gingerbread version 2.3.3.
