ZipDial Launches Missed Call Based Mobile Game With Kingfisher

ZipDial, a Bangalore based Mobile VAS provider has launched a mobile game ”Book Cricket” in collaboration with Kingfisher. Book Cricket is a popular game where players take turns to flip through random pages of a book and score runs according to the page number.

However, in this virtual game, users score runs by randomly dialing a toll free number 080 300 500 77. According to the ZipDial, the game was played by 2811 unique users, within a day of launch, out of which over 60% played again the same day. In 15 days it has been played 84,931 times.

ZipDial, which had launched a missed call based verification service in March, has been trying to create buzz around the service, with deployments centering around sponsorships and brand promotion.  It had previously tied-up with LG during the world cup to offer Cricket scores on missed calls. The company, recently raised Rs 3.5 crore in its first round of funding from a consortium led by Mumbai Angels with participation from US based angel investors. We hope to see some innovative deployments from the company, in the future.
