Another distribution channel has opened for Nokia Life Tools – the former “mobile solutions” company has inked a deal to offer offer SMS based subscription service package, covering agriculture, education, healthcare and entertainment content in rural and semi-urban markets to Vodafone customers in India. Nokia has similar deals with Tata Docomo, Reliance Communications. There appears to be a change in price for Vodafone – content for Agriculture, Education, Healthcare and Entertainment is being priced at Rs 30 per month, as compared to the RCOM and Tata Docomo deals, where there was differential pricing. This service is available on a range of entry-level Nokia handsets, in 11 Indian languages including Hindi, Gujarati, Tamil, Telugu, Bengali, Oriya, Assamese, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada and Punjabi in addition to English.

However, the Vodafone-Nokia deal for telecom operator billing has apparently still not been inked – we checked the Ovi Store. Nokia still only has operator-billing for the Ovi Store with Reliance Communications. Maybe they try doing what Samsung did for “billing” with Airtel.
