Muralikrishnan B Appointed Country Manager (India) For eBay; Ambareesh Murty Exits

EBay India has appointed Muralikrishnan B as Country Manager, eBay India. He will be responsible for the EBay portfolio in India, Philippines and Malaysia. He was previously serving as Senior Director,  Marketing and Product Management, at the company. The move follows former Country Manager, Ambareesh Murty's departure from the company, who intends to start his own internet venture. Muralikrishnan joined EBay India in 2005 as Director- Category and Product Management and has been credited for localizing the EBay brand for the Indian market. He has been part of the IAMAI (Internet & Mobile Association of India) e-commerce and FICCI Retail committees. Before joining EBay, Murali has worked with VSNL, Sify and Asian Paints. Muralikrishnan has been vocal about the problems that plague the e-commerce space in India and has reflected that the company is bullish on growth from tier 2 and 3 cities. Of late, EBay India has faced tough competition from e-commerce ventures like Flipkart and Infibeam, who have started offering a cash on delivery payment option, while Muralikrishnan has been skeptical of implementing it. EBay has also recently jumped into the daily deals bandwagon.
