Eros Digital Appoints Ricky Ghai As CEO

Eros International's digital arm, Eros Digital has appointed Ricky Ghai as Chief Executive Officer. He will be based in Eros' operating offices primarily in India, as well as the UAE, UK and US. Prior to joining Eros Digital, Ghai served as Executive Director at Abu Dhabi Media Company (ADMC), looking after digital operations, and was also a board member at the company's gaming, digital marketing and online music video (VEVO) subsidiaries. Previously, he has worked with the BBC, British Telecom, TV3 Sweden, Viasat Broadcasting and Orbit Communications. The move comes shortly after Eros announced that it is setting up an inhouse ‘Digital Asset Management’ initiative to digitize and catalog its movie library comprising of 2100+ films. The company plans to invest Rs. 5 crore to 7 crore on digitization, a process it expects will be completed by Q2 or Q3 of FY 2012. The company’s film library will be hosted in a searchable central repository. On its last investor conference call, company execs informed that Eros was in talks with mobile operators and digital cable companies for content partnerships. It has also signed deals with handset, OEM and device manufacturers to embed full length movies on their products, and launched its own branded Subscription Video On Demand channels on DTH, IPTV and Digital Cable platforms.
