– The Department of Telecom has received TRAI’s recommendations on National Broadband Plan including setting up of National Optical Fibre Agency. The government also informs that 2,61,413 broadband connections and 2506 kiosks have been provided till 31.1.2011 in the rural and remote areas of the country against a target of 8,88,832 connections and 28,762 kiosks to be provided by 2014 under the Rural Wireline Broadband scheme of USOF. – TRAI has released company-wise details of complaints against private service providers during last three years. The highest number of complaints were received against Airtel. Press Release

– TRAI has reported that operators in Middle East have  raised the settlement rate paid by Indian International Long Distance Operators (ILDOs) for the traffic from India to these countries. However, the settlement rates paid by the foreign operators to Indian operators is low due to intense competition amongst Indian service providers. Press Release
