Consim Info's matrimony website BharatMatrimony.com wants to ride on the social networking bandwagon. It is now offering Facebook integration, to enable Facebook users to search through 20 million profiles listed on BharatMatrimony for themselves and for their Facebook friends. It likes to call it MatrimonyMaster and allows for profiles to be searched by age, gender, community, religion and mother-tongue, to narrow down to relevant matches. The company says that it has taken care to ensure that the recommended matches are accessible only to person that the user selects to find a match for. In addition to this, it also allows users to send virtual gifts and cards to their Facebook friends, read success stories of people who found their match online through the site and access its YouTube channel to watch related videos. It also links out to an interesting virtual wife service, powered by WebChutney, called biwihotohaisi.com, that lets one select a virtual wife and get wake-up, breakfast and dressing up calls from her on one's mobile number, in English or Hindi! Although on one hand, this move is directed at getting more users through the social platform, in a way going viral, we wonder if it will actually not end-up trivializing the whole match-making process, and attract casual just for fun users.
