Balaji Telefilms Net Profit Increases
Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms has recorded net profits of Rs 1.12 crore compared to a loss of Rs 6.4 crore in the previous quarter. Consolidated revenues including other income,increased by 0.77% to Rs. 39.5 crore for the quarter ended December 2010 from Rs. 39.2 crore in the same quarter last fiscal. Total expenditure reduced by 0.74% to Rs. 41.86 crore in the quarter.
Operational Highlights:
– Realization per hour from Commissioned programming (HSM) remained constant at Rs. 19 Lakh as in the previous quarter.
– Realization per hour from Sponsored programming reduced from Rs. 3.5 Lakh in the previous quarter to Rs. 3.1 Lakh.
– Hours of Commissioned programs increased marginally from 159 hours in previous quarter to 162 hours.
– Hours of Sponsored programs increased by 18% from 159 hours in previous quarter to 187 hours.
Sustained advertising growth and subscription revenues contributed to broadcaster Sun TV Networks Ltd’s 48.4% rise in net profits to Rs. 225.49 crore over revenues of Rs. 597.99 crore which rose 51.36% year on year. Consolidated expenditure was Rs. 183.58 crore in the quarter ended December 2010. EBITDA was up 60.57% YoY at Rs 501.82 crore.
The company realeased a tri-lingual film Enthiran in Tamil and Robot in Hindi and Telugu. The company earned revenues of Rs 179 crore, including Rs 15 crore expected towards satellite rights which have not been included in revenues in this quarter. The company spent Rs 132 crore on production of this film.
Zee News has recorded a 56.3% fall in consolidated revenues year on year to Rs. 74.4 crore in the quarter ended December 2010. Net profit fell 67.6% year on year to Rs.6.18 crore. Expenditure also reduced considerably by 53.5% to Rs. 63.65 crore.
The segment comprising Zee News, Zee Business, Zee 24 Taas, Zee Punjabi and 24 Ghanta reported an EBITDA of Rs. 22.52 crore with 32.6% margin. EBITDA for the third quarter overall stood at Rs 13.45 crore, after including the losses incurred by the newly launched channels.
Advertising revenue showed a growth of 32.7% Year on Year and stood at Rs. 54.17 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2010.
Zee News Rev Falls 56.3% Zee News has recorded a 56.3% fall in consolidated revenues year on year to Rs. 74.4 crore in the quarter ended December 2010. Net profit fell 67.6% year on year to Rs.6.18 crore. Expenditure also reduced considerably by 53.5% to Rs. 63.65 crore. Consolidated net profit for Mid-Day Multimedia have increased to Rs. 1.49 crore this quarter, from Rs 26 lakh reported in Q3 2009. Revenues rose 20.4% YoY to Rs.39.30 crore in the quarter ended December 2010. General administrative expenses rose 13.28% YoY to Rs. 17.57 crore. It included employee costs of Rs. 8.96 crore for the quarter.
In May 2010, the company announced the merger of its publishing division with Jagran Prakashan Ltd, which is in effect from April 2010. Since, the merger was still pending at the time of the results, they also include the Print Business.
Tata Communications Net Losses Soar
Tata Communications has witnessed consolidated net losses for the quarter ending December 2010 reaching Rs. 197.4 crore, against net profits of Rs 30.18 crore recorded in the same quarter last fiscal. The company’s consolidated revenues rose 8.9% to Rs. 3018 crore while expenditure rose 7.48% year on year to Rs. 3092 crore.
