Entrepreneurs around the world are coming together to share ideas, collaborate on projects, and launch businesses at Startup Weekend events.  Now Startup Weekend, in collaboration with local organizers, is bringing their recipe for entrepreneurship to India.  Beginning with Startup Weekend Delhi (March 4th – 6th) and continuing with Startup Weekend Bangalore (March 11th – 13th), Startup Weekend will challenge Indian entrepreneurs, techies and designers to roll up their sleeves and dive into the world of early stage startups.

Startup Weekend is a non-profit organization based in Seattle, Washington, USA.  Itself a startup, Startup Weekend is dedicated to providing entrepreneurs around the world with the networks, resources, and tools they need to create products and launch companies.  With an emphasis on learning by doing and group collaboration, Startup Weekend events can be described as ‘startup bootcamp’ or the ’54 hour MBA’.

The facilitator for both the Delhi and Bangalore events, Pankaj Jain, is very pleased to see Startup Weekend in India.  “I’m very happy to be a part of the Startup Weekend team working towards bringing this high energy entrepreneurial boot camp to India.  I believe the Startup Weekend model is ideal for a country like India where ideas are plenty but it is sometimes difficult to execute the ideas,” said Jain.

Both Startup Weekend India events will follow the tried-and-true global Startup Weekend model:  participants are encouraged to pitch their startup ideas, teams will form from the most popular ideas and the next 36 hours are devoted to building a minimum viable product prior to Sunday night presentations before a panel of judges.  Meals, speakers, and other startup-related resources are also provided.
