Saleem Mobhani, Head of Mobile Entertainment at Bharti Airtel has put in his papers, MediaNama had learned from reliable sources. The rumor about Mobhani leaving has been rife for a while, and when we'd contacted him about it two weeks ago, he had denied having such plans. At the time of filing this report, Mobhani was unavailable for confirmation or denial of the development, nor were we able to ascertain his future plans. We'll update when we have more information. Recently, Mobhani's counterpart Md. Imthiaz, who was Head (VAS & New Business Incubation) also resigned to start-up; a company called Y2CF. Mobhani had joined Airtel from Hungama Digital Media, where he was COO (Mobile) and had built up its mobile content business. He had joined Hungama when IndiaFM, a company he co-founded, was acquired. Mobhani's move to Airtel had promised much: we had wondered if Bharti Airtel would bypass content aggregators and ink direct music deals with labels, similar to the deal that Reliance Communications has recently inked with Universal Music.
