Updated: Mauj CEO Manoj Dawane Joins Ericsson As Head of Strategy & Marketing

Update: Dawane informs us via SMS that he has joined Ericsson as Head of Strategy and Marketing.

Update: Following our story, People Infocom sent across an official note regarding the changes, according to which, they’ve said that Dawane will continue to act as a Strategic Advisor to the Mauj Mobile team. Dawane recently completed his three year contract with Mauj and is now looking to get back to the core telecom industry.

Earlier (May 17th, 2pm): Manoj Dawane, CEO of People Infocom (Mauj) has left the company, MediaNama had learned from multiple industry sources. Badri Sanjeevi, CFO at the People Group, confirmed to MediaNama that Dawane has lef; Sanjeevi is currently holding fort at Mauj as COO, and he said that the company will make an announcement regarding the appointment of a CEO soon. MediaNama had first heard of the People Group looking for a CEO for Mauj around three months ago.

According to our sources, Dawane has joined Ericsson India in a senior sales and marketing capacity; however, at the time of filing this story, Dawane is yet to respond to an SMS and several calls for a confirmation of the same, and exact details.

Dawane had joined Mauj around three years ago from Bharti Airtel, where he was COO of the Uttarakhand and UP-West circles. Prior to joining Airtel, he was with Hutchison Max for four years. Dawane had taken over at Mauj from Arun Gupta, a few months after Mauj inked a music licensing deal with Eros International. Eros subsequently tied up with Hungama Digital Media for music. In December last year, Mauj’s head of content and International Business Dippak Khurana had also left the company.
