Sandeep Murthy Resigns From Info Edge Board

Sandeep Murthy has resigned from the board of directors of Info Edge. Murthy was a nominee Director, representing Murugan Captial and Sherpalo LLC Mauritius (for KPCB and Sherpalo Ventures). This is not unexpected, since KPCB and Sherpalo sold most of their holdings in Info Edge on March 15th, 2010. Info Edge has verified what we had suggested earlier: Murugan Capital continues to hold 0.49% equity in the company.

Samir Sood, Head of Investments and M&A for South Asia at Google Has Resigned

Sood has returned to India to join his family business, according to our sources. MediaNama is still awaiting a confirmation of the development from Google. Google had packed off its entire Investments and M&A team from India to the US last year. Prior to his appointment at Google, Samir was a member of the Corporate Business Development team at Cisco Systems, Inc. where he lead wireless acquisitions and investments. He has also worked with Microsoft as Market Intelligence Manager, and started his career on Wall Street with Lehman Brothers as an Investment Banking Analyst in New York. More at his TiE profile.

Bharti Airtel Appoints Drew Kelton as President – Enterprise Services

Drew Kelton has been appointed President –Enterprise Services (India & South Asia) for Bharti Airtel Ltd, reporting to Sanjay Kapoor, CEO (India & South Asia), Bharti Airtel. Kelton has 29 years of work experience and has handled various international assignments based out of Europe, Australia and Asia. Prior to joining Bharti, Drew was associated with Australia’s leading telco Telstra where he was responsible for international operations in Telstra Retail and credited for turning around the international business. Before Telstra he was with Global Crossing – a leading global IP solutions provider in addition to being an entrepreneur founder of Saturn Global Networks, a company focused on delivering managed network solutions

Vineet Taneja Joins Bharti Airtel As Operations Director- South

Taneja will report to Atul Bindal, President – Mobile Services. He will look into operations in the Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu circles. Taneja was previously with Nokia India, managing the devices portfolio and launch program management, as well as heading the services and software business unit.

He has over 18 years of work experience in sales and marketing, and was with Hindustan Lever before joining Nokia, as VP for the company’s Tea Business.

Naveen Verma Joins Quasar As National Creative Director

Afaqs reports that Naveen Verma has joined Quasar Media as its first National Creative Director. He was national creative director at Rediff.com, prior to his move. Verma’s yet another exec to have spent many years at Rediff.com to move out: including Uday Sodhi, Manish Agarwal, Zaki Ansari, Joy Basu, among several others. According to the report, Verma was involved with the launch of Rediff’s minimalist redesign.

Sanjay Vasudeva to Head National Sales, Zapak

Zapak has announced the appointment of Sanjay Vasudeva as Head of National Ad Sales. Prior to this, he was with Times Internet Ltd. for 5 years as AVP – Digital Sales. He has a total experience of 20 years with 13 years dedicated to media and digital space. Prior to Times Internet Limited he was with Navbharat, ABP, GE, Apollo Tyres and Parle.

Pijush Das Takes Over As Head of Investor Relations For Sify Technologies

Pijush Kanti Das, who is President, Corporate Affairs for Sify Technologies, shall also handle Investor Relations for the company. He takes over from David Appasamy, Chief Communications Officer, Sify Technologies Limited, who is moving on to pursue career growth opportunities in the micro finance sector. Das will also oversee the Corporate Communications function.
