Airtel And Other Global Telcos Launch Undersea Cable System Bharti Airtel has announced the launch of Unity cable system in partnership with global telecom operators to boost Trans-Pacific connectivity. The 9,620 km cable system which has completed testing and is ready for service will link Japan and West Coast of the US.NEC Corporation and TE SubCom are the suppliers for the cable system while other members of the consortium are Global Transit,Google, KDDI Corporation, Pacnet and SingTel. It costs approximately $300 million to construct. The Unity cable system provides connectivity between Chikura, located on the coast near Tokyo, and West Coast network Points-of-Presence in Los Angeles, Palo Alto and San Jose.Airtel already fully owns underground cable network i2i, and has partial ownership in other global undersea cable systems like SEA-ME-WE 4, EIG, I-ME-WE and AAG. SSTL Gets Rs 5 Billion From Central Bank Of India. Sistema Shyam Teleservices that operates MTS in India has been sanctioned a loan of Rs 5 billion for a term of two years by Central Bank of India. SSTL will use the fund to expand operations in the circles it has license for. Ericsson Bags 1.3 Billion Deal With Airtel Ericsson has bagged a 1.3 billion deal with Bharti Airtel to expand and upgrade the Indian telco's networks.
