Star India Looks to Increase Stake In Tata Sky
Murdoch controlled Star India, has asked the FIPB for permission to buy a 49 percent stake in TS Investment, an investment firm of the Tata Group, which, in turn, will buy a 20% stake in DTH service Tata Sky for Rs 324 crore. If the deal does go through then Star India’s effective holding in Tata Sky will rise to 29.8 percent. At present Star India owns 20 percent of Tata Sky. (Read more at The Economic Time)
BSNL Employees Write To PM Over Hiring Management Professionals
A section of BSNL employees have written to the Prime Minster to appoint a new management team selected through a national search for talented professionals outside the Government. A similar search was carried out for national carrier Air India. BSNL’s market share has been declining over the past two years and is expected to go into losses this fiscal. Reliance Communications Launches Email to SMS Service For GSM And CDMA
Reliance Communications has announced the launch of a SMS based email service across GSM and CDMA networks in India. The service will allow users to receive their email on their mobile phones via SMS. The email to SMS technology is powered by Canada’s iSeemedia. The service is available on both prepaid and postpaid connections. Rs. 30 will be charged as subscription and 0.50 paisa per SMS as usage tariff. iSeemedia will get a percentage of every user transaction. (Read more at CIOL)

A group of international investors led by Quadrangle Capital Partners has invested $300 million in Tower Vision India Pvt Ltd. The company will use the fund to accelerate growth and expand its tower portfolio. At present it has penetration of more than 5000 sites across 14 telecom circles.
Eros Takes Bollywood Hits To Cable TV Subscribers In New York
Eros International and International Media Distribution, a subsidiary of Comcast Corporation have announced the launch of Bollywood Hits On Demand, a subscription video on demand television service in Time Warner Cable’s New York City Region. The service will allow unlimited access to approximately 25 movies and 50 music videos each month.
