Indian Company EC Media To Launch e-Reader
After Infibeam announced the launch of its e-reader Pi, another Indian company EC Media, owned by Kerala-based DC Books, has said that it will launch an e-reader by late March or early April. The new EC Media e-reader will cost around Rs 8000 to Rs 18000. (Read more at Livemint.com)
Wikipedia To Launch Indian Edition
Wikipedia has plans to launch the Indian edition of the website. Similar to country specific portals in China, Germany, US and UK, the Indian edition will be Wikipedia.in. Indian TV channel Zoom has launched an interactive voice response portal for its audiences. Users can dial 58888901 for updates on movie reviews, gossips, star interviews and contest. Spice Group will be merging its two subsidiaries, Spice Mobiles and Spice Televentures to form Spice Mobility that will invest Rs 1000 crore over the next two years. BSR & Co valued Spice Mobiles at Rs 109 per share and Spice Televentures at Rs 862 per share. 7.91 shares of Spice Mobiles will be swapped for every one share of Spice Televentures. The Department of Legal Affairs has told the Government that it should only have the 3G auction if it can allocate the spectrum to successful bidders by September 2010. Chief Justice Of India, K G Balakrishnan ha said that there was an urgent need to ban pornography websites and sites that circulate hate speeches at a Cyber Law Enforcement Programme and National Consultation meeting. He further stated that it is important to distinguish between intermediaries such as Network Service Providers, website operators and individual users for the purpose of placing liability for wrongful acts.
